The Entrepreneurial Ventures class of 2007-2008 developed and opened a school store called THE
STANG ZONE. The store has become very popular and very successful since it opened.
The store
is located in a room close to the cafeteria area of our school. We sell a variety of clothing, jewelry,
snack foods, drinks, ice cream, spirit accessories, mustang style giftware, as well as a large variety of jewelry
and purses.
Students enjoy visiting the store because they can pick up a quick snack and drink as well as
shop for spirit clothing and accessories. Administrators, teachers, and staff enjoy visiting the store for
snacks, frozen dinners, drinks as well as purchasing merchandise for their offices, classrooms, and homes.
Parents enjoy visiting the store to browse through our clothing selections as well as spirit accessories.
We create custom gift baskets for our customers: friendship baskets, birthday baskets, Easter baskets, graduation
baskets, etc. Parents can order a custom basket for their child and we will deliver it to him/her during third or fourth
period.
THE STANG ZONE is run by the students in the Entrepreneurial
Ventures classes. The students open the store, sell the merchandise, take inventory, order new merchandise,
as well as close the store each school day. They create and analyze the financial statements as well as
maintain the store’s website. Each student in the Entrepreneurial Ventures class has a job title
and each is evaluated on his/her job performance.
THE STANG ZONE has been so successful that we purchased a Chevrolet
Suburban in July 2009 with some of our profits from the 2008-2009 school year. We also purchased another Chevrolet Suburban
in August 2010 with some of our profits from the 2009-2010 school year. Our profits are used to help students at South
Effingham High School in various capacities. We are so proud that our school has welcomed our school-based enterprise.
The store is open each school day during the lunch periods (11:45 a.m.-1:55 p.m.) as well as before (7:55 a.m. - 8:25
a.m.) and after (3:40 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.)school.
